Mentorship and education are powerful tools that open doors to a world of possibilities. For over 200 graduating College Bound seniors, this year’s high school graduation ceremony marked a significant milestone in their educational journey.

On Friday, May 12th, proud families, mentors, and supporters gathered to celebrate the Class of 2023 at the Santa Ana Elks Lodge. The evening was particularly remarkable, as many seniors are first-generation college students and 61 seniors would be receiving financial assistance through our College Bound Scholarship program.

College Bound is a college and career readiness program that works to ensure high school students graduate on time with a customized plan for their future. By offering academic advising, educational enrichment, family counseling, and financial assistance, members are prepared to not only graduate high school, but to succeed and flourish in higher education and in their future careers.

Even after graduation, members receive support through our College Bound Alumni program, which is designed to assist with the transition to college by providing mentorship, resources, professional opportunities, and even financial assistance as young adults navigate the next pivotal chapter of their lives.

Scholarship Triumphs:

Our College Bound Scholarship program provides members the opportunity to receive financial assistance that will assist in overcoming the financial burden associated with obtaining a degree. To date, we have helped the Class of 2023 secure over $1.2 million in additional scholarships, financial aid, and grants with even more financial assistance expected to come in.

With the support of our Club community and corporate partners, $160,000 in scholarships were awarded to 61 exceptional seniors and $40,000 to 20 College Bound alumni. Among the recipients, 10 were recognized as Pacific Life Foundation scholars, five as Profit Recovery Partner Donald Alvarado Distinction Fund scholars, and four others received scholarships from our Board Members and partners Anne MacPherson, Antis Roofing & Waterproofing, Brown-Forman and Nicole Carrillo Hall and Keith Hall.

Many have been accepted into prestigious institutions such as Harvard University, University of California at Berkeley, Vanguard University, University of Notre Dame and more!

A Supportive Community:

Our College Bound members come from all different backgrounds and walks of life, yet all have a similar goal in mind: to achieve their higher educational goals, no matter the obstacle. Our Boys & Girls Club has fostered a spirit of resilience, tenacity, and community engagement that will guide these graduates in their future endeavors.

The success of our College Bound scholarship program would not be possible without the unwavering support of our mentors, partners and community members. To make a gift toward our College Bound program and make an impact in our future leaders’ and change-makers’ lives, please contact David Blair.
