Many of our members are going back to school in-person after more than a full year of remote learning. And as we look forward to this next school year, we realize the battle we are facing with the impact the COVID-19 crisis had on our community.

Our Club has identified the academic achievement gap as the crucial issue we can tackle in support of our youth. We remain flexible to drive resources where they are most needed and continue to drive outcomes at scale through partnership with our local school districts.

Our Back-to-School campaign is just one of the ways we planned on combating this hurdle. The campaign emphasized the importance of making sure every student we serve was school-year ready on their first day of school; we did so by equipping each child with the support he or she needs for success during the coming year.

This year, we distributed over 600 backpacks and packs of school supplies to students in our Costa Mesa, Orange, and Santa Ana partnering school sites. In addition to school supplies, our students also received snack boxes to get them fueled and ready to start school. During the distribution events, we also provided over 100 backpacks and supplies to school partners in the areas we serve.

Thank you Granite Properties and Rotary Club of Newport-Balboa for your long standing commitment to our youth. The manpower you provided during the backpack distribution events, and your donations of over 300 snack boxes and 200 backpacks filled with school supplies will ensure the students we serve are equipped with the tools needed as they begin this new school year.

We are grateful to the many supporters who donated to our Back-to-School Campaign and helped make all our distributions possible.

Your support will help our youth reach their full potential and ensure they have access to the tools they need to pursue greatness.

We believe by strengthening the social fabric for children and youth in under-resourced communities through quality mentoring and innovative afterschool programming, we can break the cycles of poverty, reduce health and wealth disparities, and build a more equitable society for future generations.
