Participants Served This Year

As part of our commitment to being a 21st century Boys & Girls Club and making sure our youth are global ready, our newest initiative, YEP for Kids, is a youth entrepreneurship program that teaches coding skills, internet safety, and computer science skills.

This program was designed to prepare youth with the skills they will need for the jobs that are waiting for them. In addition to raising participants’ interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), YEP for Kids exposes them to a variety of opportunities and careers in technology.

As a youth-teaching-youth initiative, participants with an understanding of the program fundamentals teach younger members, thereby reinforcing the skills for themselves as well as providing mentorship, one-on-one coaching, and hands-on training. The curriculum is broken up into three progressive three-week sessions.

We’ve heard estimates that there will be over 1.6 million unfilled tech jobs by the year 2020. My belief is that’s because we, as a society, aren’t preparing kids for the jobs that are actually waiting for them. Our Club is committed to making sure our members are being prepared with the skills they need for the future that is coming.
