STEAM Content

As a 21st Century Boys & Girls Club, we focus on providing our members with the knowledge and resources they need to unlock their full potential. One of the ways we do this is by integrating STEAM education into the programs and activities we offer. So what is STEAM?

STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. STEAM (formerly STEM) education is a more modern approach to learning that emphasizes critical thinking and analytical skills while also incorporating creativity, innovation, and applied arts.

Integrating art into STEM education benefits children and teens by giving them the opportunity to use both sides of their brains – analytical and creative – to help them develop into well-rounded thinkers who excel at problem-solving. With STEAM, we are able to foster ingenuity and experimentation in youth by allowing them to explore concepts in a safe, stress-free environment where they can try something, fail, and try it again, which builds resilience and self-confidence. By incorporating STEAM curriculum, students are more likely to take risks and test concepts, helping them better process the information they are learning through practical application.

Our focus on STEAM education allows us to build on student achievement and help our Club members pursue greatness in ways that prepare them for an ever-changing future. As technology and the world around us becomes faster and more complex, it is important that our youth continue to acquire the skills that STEAM can apply, preparing them to be able to adapt and to succeed.

We believe every child should have access to our wide range of STEAM-powered programs such as our youth entrepreneurship program (YEP for Kids) and our early literacy program. Don’t miss out on our great programming updates! Make sure to follow us on social media to keep up with everything we’re doing!
